Prorocie împotriva Moabului. Chiar în noaptea când este pustiit, Ar-Moabul este nimicit! Chiar în noaptea când este pustiit, Chir-Moabul este nimicit!…

Poporul se suie la templu şi la Dibon, pe înălţimi, ca să plângă; Moabul se boceşte: pe Nebo şi pe Medeba toate capetele sunt rase, şi toate bărbile sunt tăiate.

Pe uliţe sunt încinşi cu saci, pe acoperişuri şi în pieţe totul geme, şi se topesc plângând.

Hesbonul şi Eleale ţipă de li se aude glasul până la Iahaţ, chiar şi războinicii Moabului se bocesc cu sufletul plin de groază.

„Îmi plânge inima pentru Moab, ai cărui fugari aleargă până la Ţoar, până la Eglat-Şelişia; căci suie plângând suişul Luhitului şi scot ţipete de durere pe drumul Horonaimului.

Căci apele Nimrim sunt pustiite, s-a uscat iarba, s-a dus verdeaţa şi nu mai este niciun fir verde.

De aceea strâng ce le mai rămâne şi îşi strămută averile dincolo de pârâul sălciilor.

Căci ţipetele înconjoară hotarele Moabului; bocetele lui răsună până la Eglaim, şi urletele lui răsună până la Beer-Elim.
9
Apele Dimonului sunt pline de sânge, şi voi trimite peste Dimon noi nenorociri; un leu va veni împotriva celor scăpaţi ai Moabului, împotriva rămăşiţei din ţară.”

[20:16] To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. [20:17] Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
